den meisten Versionen von Kafkas "Amerika"-Roman "Der
Verschollene" heißt der Held gar nicht Josie Rossmann, sondern
Karl; er war mal 16 und dann mal 17 zu Beginn seiner Amerikaankunft,
Brod glättete die Daten, machte sie logischer, das war der Punkt;
daher erschien mir der Ringkampf von Karl und Klara in der Brodschen
Erstversion des Romanes auch erotischer, obwohl die Worte fast alle
gleich sind, in Relation zu der Fassung der Handschrift:
